Five Benefits of Including Wall Art in Your Home Decor

Picture this: It was a gloomy day, and my bedroom was feeling more like a soulless rental home than a cosy haven. I'd minimised to the point of blandness! I'd just had a major clearout, moved all the furniture around and installed new blinds. In a quest to jazz up the space, I decided to add a vibrant piece of wall art.

Little did I know, that single stroke of creativity not only transformed my decor but made me fall in love with my bedroom all over again. Although I'm an artist, sometimes I forget that art can be so transformative!

If you're looking for a way to spruce up your home decor while also reaping some mental and emotional benefits? Look no further than wall art! Not only can it add some flair to your living space, but it can also improve your overall well-being.

Here are five ways wall art can benefit you at home:

#1 - Reduce stress

Studies have shown that creating or viewing art can lower cortisol levels, the hormone associated with stress. Personally, I love to visit art galleries and feel so relaxed after having a good wander around an exhibit.

#2 - Boost creativity

Engaging with art can stimulate your own creativity and inspire you to think outside the box. Having art in my space keeps me feeling inspired to create more beautiful pieces for my clients and sparks ideas for other creative projects like writing my book.

"When we look at art, it stimulates areas of the brain that are associated with pleasure, emotion, and cognitive processing." – Semir Zeki, Neuroscientist

#3 - Improve your mood with wall art

Looking at beautiful art can release dopamine, the "feel-good" chemical in our brains. Different forms of art have been associated with elevated mood, reduced stress, and an overall positive emotional experience.

#4 - Enhances memory

Engaging with art, whether through visual or tactile experiences, has been shown to enhance cognitive processes, stimulate memory recall, and contribute to a more vivid and interconnected recollection of personal and cultural narratives.

#5 - Increase aesthetic value

Last but not least, wall art simply looks great in your home and can add some much-needed aesthetic value to your living space, turning it into a personal sanctuaries of beauty and expression. Thoughtfully chosen pieces contribute to a unique visual narrative, infusing a sense of character, sophistication, and individuality into the overall design, making the home a reflection of the dweller's taste and style.
